Mexico stocks lower at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC down 0.41%

Investing.com – Mexico stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Industrials, Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC fell 0.41%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:ELEKTRA), which rose 6.62% or 22.29 points to trade at 359.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Megacable Holdings, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:MEGACPO) added 1.13% or 0.38 points to end at 34.00 and Promotora y Operadora de Infraestructura SAB de CV (BMV:PINFRA) was up 1.11% or 1.94 points to 177.01 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Bolsa Mexicana De Valores SAB De CV (BMV:BOLSAA), which fell 2.28% or 0.76 points to trade at 32.60 at the close. Grupo Aeroportuario Del CentroNorte (BMV:OMAB) declined 2.22% or 4.01 points to end at 176.73 and Wal Mart de Mexico SAB de CV (BMV:WALMEX) was down 1.79% or 1.00 points to 54.92.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 107 to 104 and 13 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.81% or 21.46 to $2,632.44 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.93% or 0.65 to hit $70.27 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.81% or 0.59 to trade at $73.44 a barrel.

USD/MXN was up 0.46% to 20.33, while EUR/MXN rose 0.52% to 21.19.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 107.82.
