Brazil stocks lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 1.16%

Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Consumption and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 1.16% to hit a new 3-months low.

The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Companhia Brasileira De Distribuica (BVMF:PCAR3), which rose 4.87% or 0.11 points to trade at 2.37 at the close. Meanwhile, Minerva SA/Brazil (BVMF:BEEF3) added 1.60% or 0.09 points to end at 5.73 and JBS SA (BVMF:JBSS3) was up 1.13% or 0.43 points to 38.44 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Braskem SA (BVMF:BRKM5), which fell 11.03% or 1.59 points to trade at 12.82 at the close. Sendas Distribuidora SA (BVMF:ASAI3) declined 5.12% or 0.31 points to end at 5.75 and Grupo Vamos SA (BVMF:VAMO3) was down 5.08% or 0.30 points to 5.60.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 538 to 401 and 58 ended unchanged.

Shares in Braskem SA (BVMF:BRKM5) fell to 3-years lows; falling 11.03% or 1.59 to 12.82. Shares in Sendas Distribuidora SA (BVMF:ASAI3) fell to all time lows; falling 5.12% or 0.31 to 5.75.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.12% to 33.48.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 1.55% or 41.94 to $2,667.46 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.50% or 1.05 to hit $71.07 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 0.98% or 3.14 to trade at $318.11 .

USD/BRL was up 0.85% to 6.04, while EUR/BRL rose 1.15% to 6.35.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 106.64.
